Based in Hertfordshire, Howegreen are a key part of the Access 360 division providing innovative, practical and economical solutions for accessing concealed under-floor services.


We are seeking a Mechanical Design & Projects Engineer with a strong knowledge of sheet metal and extruded aluminum design to join Howegreen ensure project winning engineered solutions are developed in close conjunction with the project engineering team.


What you’ll be doing:


  • To advise the customer design team on bespoke and unique solutions from design briefs at inquiry and order stage.
  • Advise on the Design of bespoke mild steel, aluminum and stainless steel products from client design briefs.
  • Liaise with the clients throughout the design process, progressing the design from conceptual to manufacture and installation.
  • Assist in the production of Engineering and Structural Calculations, Bolting Calculations etc.
  • Assist internal sales with estimating queries.
  • To travel to site when required to assist with product design and feasibility in conjunction with customers and architects.
  • Work with external bodies E.g., trade associations and suppliers/contractors concerning material specifications and product testing.
  • Manage projects from concept to completion.
  • Report to the Engineering Manager on Project status and hold regular update meetings.


What we’re looking for:


  • 3D CAD proficiency is essential with SolidWorks knowledge preferred or similar software such as AutoCad
  • Excellent knowledge of FEA (Finite Element Analysis – SolidWorks))
  • Knowledge of sheet metal and extruded aluminum design, fabrication and assembly.
  • Qualifications in Design or Engineering including mechanical engineering essential.
  • Hold a current “Chartered Engineer” Status
  • Able to understand a product brief and to work with the design team on a practical and cost-effective solution.
  • Have full lifecycle design experience.
  • Understanding of structural calculations.
  • Understanding of FACTA ratings.
  • Understanding of fire rating for structural steel work.
  • Structural Steel, and knowledge of the manufacturing process, methods of jointing etc.
